Open Competitive Exam to Select 18 Candidates for 5 Job Categories, Applications Accepted from October 5 to 7
Job Categories and Planned Number of Positions for the 2nd Daegu City Public Service Workers Recruitment in 2021.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Daegu City will conduct the "2021 2nd Public Service Worker Recruitment Examination." The recruitment targets are public service workers who will work at the city hall and its affiliated business offices.
Due to vacancies such as retirements, 18 new hires will be made across five job categories: 1 facility and equipment manager, 5 field workers, 6 cleaners, 5 meter readers, and 1 counselor.
Applicants must be residents registered in Daegu City as of the announcement date, September 23, 2021, and be between 18 and under 60 years old regardless of gender.
However, for the elderly-friendly position of cleaner, applicants must be between 55 and under 65 years old, and must not fall under disqualification reasons according to Daegu City's public service worker management regulations or be subject to employment restrictions under the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Since 2020, Daegu City has been conducting integrated recruitment twice a year for public service workers working at the city headquarters and business offices to ensure fairness in hiring and improve administrative efficiency.
The first public service worker recruitment examination of 2021, held in the first half of the year, saw 359 applicants competing for 28 positions, resulting in a high competition rate of 12.8 to 1.
The examination process selects five times the number of planned hires through the first document screening, followed by a second physical test (grip strength, sit and reach, sit-ups), and a third interview test before final hiring.
Additionally, according to the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Promotion of Employment of Disabled Persons and Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Act on the Honorable Treatment and Support for Persons of Distinguished Service to the State, extra points are awarded at each hiring stage to disabled persons and employment support targets.
For some job categories, applicants holding relevant certificates receive additional points during document screening.
Cha Hyuk-kwan, Director of the Daegu City Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, "Due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 and improvements in workers' working conditions, the preference for public service positions has increased," adding, "We will conduct the recruitment process transparently and fairly."
Applications can be submitted in person or by registered mail from October 5 to 7 for three days. Detailed information about the recruitment examination can be found in the "Exam Information" section on the Daegu City website.
