[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) enacted the "Ordinance on the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights of Apartment Complex Workers in Gangdong-gu" in March to protect the labor rights and interests of apartment complex workers and is making various efforts to improve their working conditions.
As part of this, a survey was conducted to identify the status of workers in apartment complexes in the area and to assess the demand for quarantine supplies. Based on the survey results, approximately 2,500 apartment complex workers will be provided with 10 KF94 masks each by October 8.
Furthermore, through investigations into the poor working conditions recently highlighted among apartment complex workers, plans are underway to establish practical measures to enhance the rights and interests of workers who have been excluded from protection under labor laws.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "With the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the volume of deliveries has increased and the scope of management, including disinfection of common areas, has expanded, increasing the workload fatigue of apartment complex workers. Since thorough hygiene management is essential, we hope that the support of quarantine supplies will help create a safe working environment."
