[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A woman public official in her 20s, Ms. A, affiliated with Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province, took an extreme measure, and her bereaved family has pointed to her colleague Mr. B as the perpetrator. In response, Mr. B denied the accusation, stating that he is also receiving psychiatric treatment due to trauma.

Earlier, on the 17th, a post titled "Our public official daughter committed suicide" was uploaded on the online community Bobae Dream.

The author claimed, "While my deceased daughter was working at Dongducheon City Hall, a colleague's bag was damaged by a knife, and the colleague accused my daughter of being the culprit." Along with this, a screenshot of Mr. B’s social media post targeting Ms. A was attached.

Mr. B wrote on SNS, "I try not to think about it, but it keeps swirling in my head, driving me crazy," and "I have to think I was bitten by some crazy person and move on, but the actions afterward make people even more insane and wronged."

He continued, "You might not realize it yourself, but I know it’s all you," and "Everyone knows it was you, that you’re a psychopath, that you’re creepy." This post has since been deleted.

The author stated that Mr. B accused Ms. A of being the culprit without any evidence, and "It seems the team members also pressured our daughter as the culprit."

At the time, Ms. A insisted she was not the culprit, but there was no CCTV in the office to prove it.

The author said, "(My daughter) was investigated by the police and, unable to endure the pressure and cold stares from team members, jumped from the 15th floor of her residence."

As this post was shared across various online communities and became a topic of controversy, Mr. B also made a statement. He said, "There is no CCTV inside the office, but after checking the hallway CCTV, except for an elderly visitor who briefly came, only Ms. A was in the office at the time," adding, "I was shocked to find the bag torn with a knife while I was away, and since then, I have developed trauma and am receiving psychiatric treatment."

He also stated, "I did not accuse Ms. A to the police," and "After several days of consideration, I requested an investigation to identify the culprit."

Mr. B added, "The entire team was not unilaterally treating Ms. A as the culprit; rather, many team members encouraged her."

Meanwhile, on the morning of the 16th around 7 a.m., a resident of an apartment in Yangju found Ms. A collapsed near the entrance and called 119. Ms. A was transported to the hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation but ultimately passed away.

It is reported that Ms. A was captured on CCTV going up to the 15th floor of the apartment just before the incident. Personal belongings such as her mobile phone were found at her home, but no suicide note was discovered.
