[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] Recently, as virtual humans rapidly grow and expand their areas of activity, a new male virtual human has emerged.

Cleon, a deep learning video generation company (CEO Jin Seunghyuk), introduced the virtual human "Uju" created using AI technology on the 17th.

Cleon applied deep human technology to create Uju by blending multiple faces. Deep human is an AI-based image technology that can change the face in a video in real time using just one photo.

On that day, Cleon opened Uju’s social media service (SNS) accounts to announce Uju’s existence to the world. They also posted Uju’s student ID photo as the first post.

Uju is set to be born in 2001, making him 21 years old this year. He is a university student majoring in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Camelo University, with hobbies including exercise, hiking, reading, and baking.

Until now, virtual humans have been set as celebrities, idols, or models, but Uju is an ordinary university student. Cleon explained, "This is to approach the public with a friendly image like a friend you might see around, so people can empathize and heal together in the exhausting prolonged COVID-19 situation."

Going forward, Uju plans to share his daily life and communicate with fans on Instagram, TikTok, and Cleon’s real-time video sharing SNS "Camelo."

Meanwhile, recently in the industry, there has been an increase in cases where companies use virtual humans as their models. Not only can they create characters with the desired image directly, but they are also free from various scandals, making them a marketing tool attracting many companies’ attention.

“Rosie,” Korea’s first virtual human produced by Sidus Studio X, reportedly signed eight exclusive advertising contracts and received over 100 sponsorships in just two months.

In addition, virtual humans such as LG Electronics’ "Kim Raeah," Smilegate’s "Han Yua," Onmind’s "Sua," and Lotte Home Shopping’s "Lucy" are continuously being developed.
