[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] On the 19th, the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Seoul area on the 18th was finally counted at 742. This is the highest record ever for a Saturday count in Seoul.


Among the confirmed cases, 732 were domestic infections and 10 were imported cases. The number of new confirmed cases on this day increased by 39 compared to the previous day (17th), which was 703, and increased by 84 compared to a week ago (11th), which was 658.


The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul recorded the high 600s for five consecutive days from the 7th to the 11th of this month. On the 14th, it surged to 808, setting a new record for the highest number ever. After that, the numbers were 719 on the 15th, 746 on the 16th, 703 on the 17th, and 742 on the 18th, showing four consecutive days in the 700s.


The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul is 91,273. Currently, 10,711 people are in isolation and treatment, and 79,945 people have been declared recovered and released from isolation. The number of deaths increased by one in the last 24 hours, totaling 617.
