[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Dong-joo] On the second day of the Chuseok holiday, the 19th, the roads in downtown Seoul appeared to be quiet. Korea Expressway Corporation expected 430,000 vehicles to leave the metropolitan area for the provinces on this day.
The number of people traveling home and returning during this year's Chuseok holiday is projected to increase to 32.26 million, due to expanded vaccination and partial easing of social distancing, compared to last year. This is a 3.5% increase from the 31.16 million during last year's Chuseok. It is expected that up to 6.26 million people will travel on the day of Chuseok.
