As a wasp sting incident occurred involving a Halla Mountain climber, Jeju Fire Station and Jeju Health Center are jointly operating an on-site command post and emergency medical station at the entrance of the Gwaneumsa Trail on Halla Mountain.
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] On the first day of the Chuseok holiday, around 3 p.m. on the 18th, about 20 hikers on Hallasan were stung by wasps near the Antimok trail.
According to the fire authorities, the wasp sting incident is presumed to have occurred at a beehive attached to a tree near Antimok, 4.4 km from the Gwaneumsa trail on Hallasan.
At the accident site, seven firefighters, guided by Hallasan National Park Gwaneumsa staff, moved by monorail and on foot to the scene, and are transporting the injured while receiving remote medical guidance.
As of 5 p.m., there is one person transported to the hospital emergency room and 17 people receiving first aid on site. To handle the accident, a command post and emergency medical station have been set up and are operating at the entrance of the Gwaneumsa trail on Hallasan.
Personnel at the emergency medical station are assessing additional injuries among hikers at the entrance of the Gwaneumsa trail and are simultaneously providing emergency treatment for minor patients on site.
Meanwhile, the command post and emergency medical station are jointly operated by 20 personnel from Jeju Fire Station, Jeju Health Center, and Hallasan National Park Gwaneumsa District, with one rescue vehicle and three ambulances.
