117 People Caught Violating Quarantine Rules at Unauthorized Entertainment Facilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A total of 117 people, including business owners, employees, and customers, were caught by the police for violating quarantine rules at an unauthorized entertainment facility.


According to the police on the 18th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul apprehended a total of 117 people, including one business owner, seven employees, and 109 customers, at a restaurant in Nonhyeon-dong around 8:45 PM the previous day.


Police and Gangnam District Office officials responded to a report stating, "A restaurant is decorated like a club and about 100 people are dancing." The place, which was licensed as a regular restaurant, had a DJ booth, turntables, and special lighting installed, and it was reported that a large amount of alcohol was sold to customers.


The police and district office staff entered undercover as customers to assess the situation inside, then blocked the front and back entrances of the restaurant before conducting the crackdown.


Meanwhile, around 4 AM that day in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu, 11 people gathered on a building rooftop drinking alcohol were caught for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
