[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jo Young-hoon, chairman of the Jung-gu Council in Seoul, visited Namdaemun Market on the 16th ahead of Chuseok to encourage the merchants.
On this day, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, accompanied Chairman Jo to check the market situation and listen to the merchants' difficulties.
They then held a meeting with the merchants of Namdaemun Market to share the current depressed market conditions and discuss measures for institutional support.
Kim Haeng-seon, vice chairman of the Jung-gu Council, also attended and toured various stores, paying close attention to the merchants' recent situations.
It was reported that Chairman Jo had requested Leader Song's visit to encourage merchants struggling due to the downturn in the commercial district.
