Hapcheon-gun Expands Comprehensive Road Network... "Expecting Infinite Growth Potential" The 2nd National Road Network Comprehensive Plan

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 17th that it has gained infinite growth opportunities by expanding a well-connected transportation network through the '2nd National Road Network Comprehensive Plan (2021~2030)' confirmed after deliberation by the Road Policy Deliberation Committee.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport established the 2nd National Road Network Comprehensive Plan (2021~2030) through a broad opinion-gathering process including research projects by the Korea Transport Institute, public hearings, and consultations with related organizations.

Since 1992, the national arterial road network has consisted of a grid network with 7 north-south axes and 9 east-west axes, and 6 ring roads in metropolitan areas. However, through this plan, for the first time in about 30 years, the grid network covering the entire country has been reorganized into 10 north-south axes and 10 east-west axes to allow more convenient access to arterial roads anywhere nationwide.

A notable point is the newly introduced 6 north-south axes road connecting 'Yeoncheon~Seoul (Gangil IC)~Jincheon~Yeongdong~Hapcheon' to complement the large gap between the 'Jungbu Line' and 'Jungbu Inland Line' and to disperse traffic volume on the north-south axes.

In particular, with the newly introduced Jincheon~Hapcheon section, Hapcheon-gun is expected to become a well-connected transportation hub equipped with both the east-west road network of the Hamyang~Ulsan Expressway and the north-south road network.

County Governor Moon Jun-hee said, “For a better Hapcheon future of 100 years, all residents and hometown supporters will unite their efforts to ensure the project is promoted promptly.”
