[Should I Start a Business Too] Animal Welfare & Well-being Pickle... Jadam Chicken "Korea's Representative Well-being Chicken"

[Should I Start a Business Too] Animal Welfare & Well-being Pickle... Jadam Chicken "Korea's Representative Well-being Chicken" Jadam Chicken's 'Maepshulleng Chicken'.

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] There is a brand leading a healthy chicken culture by excluding ingredients with harmful controversies and using premium ingredients, including animal welfare-certified raw meat. Jadam Chicken has been operating about 700 franchise stores nationwide as of this month since launching the brand in 2009, taking the lead in pursuing a healthy and ethical food culture.

The unique point of Jadam Chicken is that it uses animal welfare-certified raw meat, known as a premium ingredient. All broiler chickens are domestically sourced and certified antibiotic-free products. The batter powder is enhanced with various grains and nuts to improve taste while also benefiting health. For curing the raw meat, the premium salt Himalayan pink salt was boldly introduced.

The chicken radish, which accompanies chicken like licorice, excludes substances such as acetic acid, saccharin, and preservatives, which are widely used in the industry but continuously controversial for their harmful effects, from the manufacturing process.

The box containing the chicken adopts a ‘LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability)’ material that can be recycled as waste paper.

The representative product is the ‘Maepchellang Chicken,’ launched in June last year. From its release, it attracted attention with its unique taste and product concept, selling 100,000 units within 50 days and 1 million units within 8 months. Maepchellang Chicken is a menu that responds to the market demand for spicy chicken while focusing on differentiation from existing spicy chicken products.

Since 2014, Jadam Chicken’s average annual franchise store growth rate has reached 60.7%.

Jadam Chicken exempts prospective franchisees from deposits and monthly royalties, which can be burdensome at the start of a business, and supports cost savings by allowing franchisees to directly handle interior work and signage installation. It also provides focused advertising support worth 1 million KRW at the time of opening.

Jadam Chicken recently launched a 3 million KRW daily sales project to celebrate reaching its 700th store. The goal is to increase daily sales at franchise stores to over 3 million KRW within three months through systematic management by the headquarters. To this end, the headquarters supports 50% of online and offline advertising costs and establishes customized plans with franchisees to boost sales together.

Nam Myungseok, Chairman of Wellbeing Food Jadam Chicken, said, “Given the nature of the franchise business where the headquarters does not produce everything, close cooperation with partner companies is very important and is one of the key factors for the success of the franchise business,” adding, “Jadam Chicken recognizes this well and will not neglect efforts to promote mutual growth with partner companies.”
