[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] Jeon Yeo-ok, former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker, criticized Kim Nam-guk, a Democratic Party lawmaker and chief of staff for Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung's campaign, for leaving during the '2040 Generation Roundtable' hosted by JoongAng Ilbo on the 13th while the topic of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk was being discussed. She said, "This should not be called a broadcasting accident but a 'constitutional accident,'" and added, "In our constitutional history, this has definitely written a dark chapter of 'Is there really a lawmaker like this?'"
On the 16th, Jeon posted on her Facebook, "Lawmaker Kim ran away during the debate. I've never seen a lawmaker run away like an elementary school kid during a meeting with the 2030 generation," pointing out the incident.
She continued, "A lawmaker who should be open and comforting when meeting with people in their 20s left because he 'couldn't debate,'" and mocked, "The reason for Kim leaving was reportedly because he was asked about Cho Kuk. When criticism poured in, Kim shed tears saying, 'I get teary-eyed just thinking about former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk,' putting on a melodramatic act."
She added, "Kim forgot about Cho and went to Lee Jae-myung's camp to become Lee's prompter, didn't he? We told him to serve the people, but he’s doing a double job as 'Lee Jae-myung's prompter'! Lee Nak-yeon also cried when his resignation motion failed, Nam-guk cried too, and it seems that 'crying and whining' is the best the Democratic Party can do," she jabbed.
She further said, "Kim Nam-guk and Ko Min-jung are like siblings. Still, Nam-guk seems more like a 'player' than Ko Min-jung. Ko Min-jung is still 'reading the atmosphere,' but Nam-guk went from being 'pro-Choong' to becoming a 'Daekkaemyung' (fierce supporter of Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung)," and questioned, "Then what about 'Cho Kuk'? It's just an 'excuse' for Nam-guk."
Earlier, Kim explained in a Facebook post on the same day, "I am truly sorry for not being able to stay until the end of the '2040 Generation Roundtable.' I tried to calm myself for about 20 minutes on site, but I couldn't stop the tears that burst out, and I simply couldn't calm my heart. I was really unable to continue speaking."
He added, "I don't know why I cried so sorrowfully or why the tears wouldn't stop. It seems impossible to explain with just one word."
