LG Uplus Conducts Child Abuse Prevention Campaign

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 17th that it conducted a campaign to prevent child abuse and improve awareness.

The ‘915 T-shirt Campaign,’ which involved private companies, universities, and volunteer centers in Yongsan-gu, was launched to raise public awareness about respect for children, which has been gaining attention since the abolition of Article 915 of the Civil Act in January. The article stated, “A guardian may administer necessary discipline to protect or educate a child.”

About 1,070 employees from more than 10 companies participating in the campaign wore T-shirts containing messages about child abuse prevention while working, urging interest in establishing a culture of child protection. The specially produced T-shirts featured a “Symbol for Child Abuse Prevention” design created by designers from Amorepacific and Sookmyung Women’s University.

Participating employees shared content related to the abolition of disciplinary rights online and emphasized the importance of spreading a non-violent and proper child-rearing culture. Daycare centers within each member company and public daycare centers in Yongsan-gu also participated in the campaign, actively promoting the abolition of disciplinary rights and the importance of child protection.

The participating companies plan to continue child abuse prevention activities in the future. On November 19, “Child Abuse Prevention Day,” they will deliver items such as the “Hoyatoto Doll,” created by Seoul Design Governance to heal the hearts of abused children, and the “Cloth Book Kit,” developed together by daycare teachers from companies in Yongsan-gu and students from Sookmyung Women’s University, to the Child Rights Protection Agency.

An LG Uplus official said, “Through this campaign, we were able to convey the message about the abolition of disciplinary rights and proper parenting,” adding, “We will continue to actively participate in various activities to prevent child abuse.”
