On the 17th, the Office of Education announced that it will provide the Incheon Education Recovery Support Fund to assist students who have suffered learning losses and emotional and psychological damage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The support targets approximately 346,000 students enrolled in kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, special and various schools, and accredited lifelong education institutions offering high school courses.
The total amount is 34.6 billion won, with 100,000 won per student, to be transferred to school banking accounts on the 20th of next month.
The Office of Education plans to encourage the use of the education recovery support fund for purposes such as culture, arts, sports, and counseling, in line with the intent of the support.
Superintendent Do Seonghun stated, "The education recovery support fund was established to expedite the return to normalcy from educational damages caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, including students' learning losses, lack of social and communication skills that should be learned through school, feelings of isolation, and other psychological and emotional issues."
