[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City has designated and is operating a total of 10,968 locations, including emergency medical institutions, clinics and hospitals open during the holidays, and pharmacies, to ensure a safe Chuseok holiday. Screening clinics at public health centers in all 25 districts will also remain operational to support prompt testing during the holiday period.
During this holiday, 66 emergency medical institutions and general hospital emergency rooms in Seoul will operate 24 hours as usual. The emergency medical institutions include 30 regional and local emergency medical centers such as Seoul National University Hospital, 19 local emergency medical institutions such as Seoul Eastern Hospital, and 17 hospitals operating emergency rooms such as Seoul Dae-han Hospital, totaling 66 locations open.
“Open clinics and hospitals” will provide emergency medical services at 4,204 clinics and hospitals other than emergency medical institutions for primary care of patients during the holiday. “Open pharmacies” will be designated near these open clinics and hospitals, with 6,698 locations planned to operate.
During the holiday, you can easily find open clinics, hospitals, or pharmacies in your neighborhood through phone, internet, or smartphone apps. You can call 120 (Dasan Call Center) or 119 (Emergency Situation Center) for guidance, or check via the smartphone app “Emergency Medical Information Service (e-gen)” or the websites of Seoul City, district offices, and the Central Emergency Medical Center.
Additionally, over-the-counter safety medicines can be easily purchased at 7,126 convenience stores and other authorized sellers (Seoul City website → Over-the-counter Safety Medicines).
To prevent the early spread of COVID-19, screening clinics at public health centers in all 25 districts will remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during this holiday period to conduct diagnostic testing.
Park Yu-mi, Director of the Seoul City Citizen Health Bureau, said, “For mild illnesses such as stomach upset or colds during the Chuseok holiday, please avoid going to emergency rooms and use nearby clinics, hospitals, or pharmacies by checking in advance through 120 or 119. We will operate public health center screening clinics, open clinics and hospitals, and pharmacies without interruption to ensure citizens do not experience inconvenience in accessing medical services during the holiday.”
