[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Park Doo-yong, Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, received the 10th International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA) Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th International Occupational Hygiene Association Conference (IOHA 2021).
The IOHA Lifetime Achievement Award honors one individual worldwide who has made the most outstanding contributions in the field of occupational hygiene.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency explained that this award, given every two years since 1997 to one recipient, has recognized nine awardees so far, and Director Park Doo-yong, who received it on the 15th, is the 10th recipient.
Director Park Doo-yong established the Asian Occupational Health Network and has led the training of experts and policy development.
He was highly praised for his contributions over more than ten years to protecting the health of workers in Asian countries with weak occupational health systems and improving working environments.
The International Occupational Hygiene Association is the world's largest occupational health organization, comprising over 20,000 experts from 34 countries. It holds international academic conferences every two to three years. The 12th IOHA conference held this year, under the theme "Bridging the Gap in Occupational Health Development and Opening New Horizons," was attended by over 1,500 participants from more than 60 countries.
