[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Porsche AG announced on the 16th that Thomas Rodenbach (53) will be appointed as the new Chairman of Porsche Motorsport effective October 1.
Thomas Rodenbach, the new Chairman, said, "As the new Chairman, I am really looking forward to my future role while feeling a heavy sense of responsibility," adding, "Continuing the great achievements made under the leadership of my predecessor Fritz Enzinger will be my biggest goal and challenge."
He also stated, "We will develop motorsports in line with the changing trends of the automotive industry, from customer racing to manufacturer participation in major racing series worldwide," and "Above all, I aim for victories in endurance racing and Formula E, and I also consider the continuous development of customer racing to be very important."
Born in Santiago, Chile, Thomas Rodenbach majored in Mechanical Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Starting his career at DTM, he was responsible for powertrain component development at various European automobile manufacturers, and joined Porsche in the fall of 1998. As head of powertrain development, he participated in racing and sports car projects such as the 918 Spyder, 911 RSR, 911 GT3 R, and 911 GT3 Cup until 2013.
