Resolving Parking Difficulties and Providing a Safe Parking Environment in Areas with Frequent Complaints

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 15th, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held an opening ceremony for the Geochang Bus Terminal public parking lot, attended by about 40 people including County Governor Gu In-mo, County Council Chairman Kim Jong-du, and county council members.

The public parking lot opened that day is located in an area around the terminal where parking complaints frequently occurred, making it a long-standing demand of residents. Since December last year, with a total project cost of 3.2 billion KRW, a parking area of 3,546㎡ with 108 parking spaces was created to provide a pleasant and safe parking environment.

The county plans to operate the Geochang Bus Terminal public parking lot free of charge on a trial basis until October to identify and improve any issues, and from November, it will be operated normally as a paid parking lot.

Governor Gu In-mo said, “The Geochang Bus Terminal public parking lot is a public facility that anyone in the county can use. To foster a proper parking culture, please refrain from long-term parking and vehicle abandonment,” and added, “We will actively work to improve any inconvenient parking areas in the future.”

Meanwhile, as part of the 7th local government term Governor Gu’s campaign promises, the county has established a total of 9 small-scale public parking lots with 86 spaces around residential areas by this year, and plans to create a total of 12 locations by 2022.
