[Featured Stock] CoAsia, Samsung Electronics' New US Semiconductor Plant Outline... Expectations for Increased Orders

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] KoAsia is showing strong performance. It appears to be influenced by news that Samsung Electronics will soon finalize the site for a new foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) plant in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas, USA.

As of 11:05 AM on the 15th, KoAsia was trading at 8,740 KRW, up 5.81% (480 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.

Previously, Taylor approved a plan to provide tax benefits such as property tax rebates to attract Samsung Electronics' semiconductor plant locally. Taylor will refund 92.5% of the property tax for the first 10 years on the land Samsung will use, then 90% for the next 10 years, and an additional 85% for another 10 years in the form of subsidies. Samsung Electronics plans to hire at least 24 interns annually from Taylor residents or youths belonging to the Taylor Independent School District (ISD), providing opportunities for education in industrial sites such as semiconductor plants.

If the second foundry plant in Taylor is confirmed, it is expected to become the base for next-generation 3-nanometer semiconductor processes. The total site area, including the plant and roads, is about 4.8 million square meters (approximately 1.45 million pyeong), which is about four times larger than the existing Austin plant (about 370,000 pyeong).

KoAsia has been selected as an official partner company (DSP) of Samsung Electronics' semiconductor foundry. It possesses technology that can realize customers' ideas into chips, so Samsung Electronics' expansion of semiconductor investment is expected to lead to an increase in KoAsia's orders. In particular, KoAsia is recently increasing its global semiconductor design workforce and has a local corporation in the United States, enabling active local response.
