[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Apple has unveiled the iPhone 13. Predictions that it would have a name other than the number 13 were off the mark. The new iPhone is larger in appearance compared to the previous iPhone 12, but aside from a smaller screen notch and a slightly more protruding rear camera, there are no major differences. However, Apple explains that there are significant internal changes.
The iPhone 13, unveiled by Apple on the 14th (local time), looks almost identical to its predecessor, but the front screen notch has been reduced by 20%. The screen size remains the same as the 12 for each model.
The rear camera module has been redesigned and appears slightly more protruding, but it is difficult to notice a major change.
Internal changes are detected. The iPhone 13 is equipped with a larger battery compared to the 12. This is expected to particularly affect the mini model, which had a smaller battery capacity. Apple explained that the iPhone 13 mini can be used 1.5 hours longer than the 12 mini, and the iPhone 13 can be used 2.5 hours longer than the 12.
Apple introduced four models again this year: the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The iPhone 13 series uses the A15 Bionic chip. The A15 is a 5-nanometer chip integrating 15 billion transistors, and Apple claims it is about 50% faster than competing products.
