[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Chosun University (President Min Young-don) announced on the 14th that Sergeant Ko Ji-eun, a graduate of the Department of Police Administration (admitted in 2007), was selected as one of the "40 Outstanding Police Officers Under 40 Worldwide" by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), becoming the first Korean police officer to receive this honor.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police, headquartered in Virginia, USA, is the world's largest policing organization with over 31,000 members from 165 countries. It holds an annual conference to award and share achievements of police officers and agencies worldwide who have demonstrated outstanding performance in various fields.

At this year's conference, the "40 under 40 Awards," for which Sergeant Ko was selected, recognizes police officers worldwide who demonstrate a spirit of community service and strong leadership capabilities.

Sergeant Ko, affiliated with the National Police Agency's Foreign Affairs Bureau, is the first Korean police officer to receive this award. This recognition was given for her successful promotion of security cooperation projects in three Central American countries (Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala), contributing to local security improvements and international public safety.

Professor Jeong Se-jong of the Department of Police Administration said, "Ko Ji-eun, an alumna of Chosun University, diligently completed the core curriculum during her studies and showed exceptional abilities particularly in social service and foreign languages." He added, "I feel deep pride as a professor that Ko Ji-eun was selected as one of the '40 Outstanding Police Officers Worldwide,' setting an example for juniors beyond South Korea." He further stated, "The Department of Police Administration at Chosun University operates educational programs to cultivate essential qualities for police officers, such as foreign language skills, arrest techniques, legal application abilities, a spirit of service, and leadership."
