[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo]THQ (formerly Gammanu) announced on the 14th that it has obtained approval for liquor import and export business and is expanding its lineup of brands in stores.
The Hainan Haiyou Duty-Free Shop in China mostly reopened at the end of August, except for some luxury brand stores. Due to the hot and humid climate, the period from May to September is the off-season. Starting next month, the peak season will begin with events such as China's National Day.
National Day is a golden week with seven consecutive holidays and is considered the largest consumption season in China. Nearly 1 billion people in China have completed COVID-19 vaccinations, with more than two-thirds of the population fully vaccinated. Ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, regional travel restrictions are being lifted. Accordingly, many tourists are expected to visit tourist destinations such as Hainan.
In response, THQ recently prepared for the peak season by introducing 22 domestic brands across four categories, including Kakao Lens.
A company representative stated, “We are making every effort to expand the brands in our stores not only with cosmetics and fashion accessories but also by obtaining approval for liquor import and export business. Before starting full-scale sales in October, we will maximize sales performance through active cooperation with Haiyou Duty-Free Shop in promotions and events.”
