Won-Dollar Exchange Rate Opens Down 2.0 Won at 1174.0 Won

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 14th, the won-dollar exchange rate started slightly lower.


At the Seoul foreign exchange market on the day, as of 9:16 a.m., the won-dollar exchange rate was 1,173.7 won per dollar, down 2.3 won from the previous day's closing price.


The exchange rate began trading at 1,174.0 won, down 2.0 won, and is showing limited movement between 1,173 and 1,174 won.


Market participants are focusing on the U.S. August Consumer Price Index (CPI) to be announced on the day.


Ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) regular meeting scheduled for the 21st-22nd, there is speculation that if inflationary pressures increase, the Federal Reserve's (Fed) tapering (asset purchase reduction) schedule could be accelerated.


At the same time, the won-yen recalculated exchange rate is 1,066.91 won per 100 yen.
