Eulji University Develops 'Korean-style Self-Assessment Tool for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health'

Acute Myocardial Infarction, Stroke, and Other Cardiovascular Diseases Are Leading Causes of Death in the Elderly... Early Detection and Management Needed

Eulji University Develops 'Korean-style Self-Assessment Tool for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health' Turing Bio Co., Ltd. announced that it has collaborated with the Eulji University research team to create the "Korean Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health Self-Assessment Table," which allows for easy checking of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health indices.

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Turing Bio Co., Ltd. announced that it has collaborated with the 'Research Team for Prediction and Diagnosis System Demonstration and Commercialization of Age-related Diseases' at Eulji University Seongnam Campus to develop an artificial intelligence model for the 'Korean-style Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health Self-Assessment,' which allows users to easily check their cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health index. The developed 'Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health Self-Assessment' can be tested online.

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as acute myocardial infarction and stroke are known to be major causes of death among the elderly in Korea. In the current era of super-aging, early detection and management of these diseases for prevention are urgently needed.

To this end, the developed 'Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health Self-Assessment' consists of 16 questions regarding blood parameters, lifestyle patterns, and dietary habits, each scored from 0 to 3 points. The total score diagnoses the health stage (healthy/normal/risk group/high-risk group). Additionally, Turing Bio Co., Ltd. has launched a website where users can take the 'basic self-assessment' test online without logging in.

This self-assessment differs from existing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease evaluation charts that use physical indices such as weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, and blood sugar, as it assesses the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases based on the dietary habits and lifestyle patterns of Koreans, earning recognition as a novel approach.

The Eulji University research team involved in the collaboration divided their study into nutrition pattern research and lifestyle pattern research to analyze Korean dietary habits and lifestyle, thereby improving accuracy. Professor Park Hang-sik, who led the research, stated, "Various countries have already recognized the importance of social and economic losses caused by cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and are developing diverse research and technologies for prevention. We hope that this research tailored to Koreans will help the elderly lead healthy lives."

Turing Bio Co., Ltd., which conducted AI modeling and analysis in the study, is developing independent software medical devices and platforms capable of precise disease diagnosis and treatment using multi-omics data and public medical data by integrating life sciences and artificial intelligence technologies. The company also announced plans to expand into a disease history management platform based on medical blockchain to protect personal medical data.
