"Reduced Cooking and Dishwashing Burden During Hangawi" LG Electronics Enhances Convenience and Performance of Microwave Oven and Dishwasher

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 14th that it is continuously enhancing the convenience and performance of kitchen appliances such as microwave ovens and dishwashers, which reduce the burden of cooking and dishwashing, ahead of the upcoming Chuseok holiday.

LG Electronics introduced that by using the recipe function of the LG Dios microwave oven, users can check themed recipes such as Songpyeon, Jeon, and other holiday dishes, as well as 'Kids Snacks,' 'Home Brunch,' 'Bread & Pastries,' and 'Family Restaurant Imitation' on the LG ThinQ application (app). When cooking ingredients are placed in the oven and the 'Send to Oven' button is pressed on the LG ThinQ app, the microwave oven automatically sets the optimal temperature and time for each dish.

LG Electronics has also been strengthening the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cook' function applied to the Dios microwave oven since 2019. AI Cook allows users to link the Dios microwave oven equipped with Wi-Fi and the LG ThinQ app on their smartphones, then scan the barcode of ready-to-eat meals with the smartphone camera to automatically set the optimal cooking method on the microwave oven. Starting with Pulmuone Foods, LG has expanded cooperation with food brands such as CJ CheilJedang, Dongwon F&B, and Daesang, and the number of ready-to-eat meals compatible with AI Cook has increased about fourfold from 33 in 2019 to approximately 120 currently.

This product also received the first AI+ certification in the oven category from the Korea Standards Association in April.

LG Electronics explained that the LG Dios dishwasher steam using TrueSteam is especially useful during holidays with heavy dishwashing burdens, as it provides sterilization, deodorization, and cleaning performance. This product has been recognized for its sterilization performance by several professional institutions by removing 99.999% of 28 types of bacteria and viruses, surpassing the previous domestic industry record of 22 types.

Following last year’s confirmation of approximately 26% superior cleaning power compared to hand washing in collaboration with Professor Lee Jihyun’s team at Pusan National University, LG Electronics recently demonstrated over 99% odor removal performance of dishes through olfactory sensory tests using odor-causing contaminants such as egg residue and mackerel oil with Professor Yumi Sun’s team at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology.

Ahead of the upcoming Chuseok, LG Electronics is offering discounts of up to 100,000 KRW and 50,000 KRW respectively to customers purchasing kitchen appliances such as microwave ovens and dishwashers at Best Shop. Additionally, customers who purchase five or more LG Objet Collection products including dishwashers and microwave ovens at Best Shop will receive mobile gift certificates worth up to 2 million KRW depending on the number of products purchased.
