[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is operating a mentoring program for school parent associations.

The parent association mentoring program is a program in which 18 parent mentors who completed the parent school participation activation mentor course organized by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education support the operation of 12 mentee parent associations in the province that wish to participate.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced that it will operate the '2021 Parent Association Mentoring Program' from the 13th of this month to March 31 of next year to strengthen the autonomous capabilities of parent associations.

This mentoring program focuses on cases of non-face-to-face operation of parent associations requested by mentee parent associations, monthly operation methods, and communication methods of parent associations, and education is conducted accordingly.

Jung Su-ho, head of the Parent-Citizen Cooperation Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "Parent participation in schools is important for the autonomous capabilities of parent associations," adding, "As this is the first time the mentoring program is being conducted, we will strive to strengthen the capabilities of parent associations through substantial operation."
