[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] A man in his 50s who approached 9-year-old girls and attempted to lure them to his home, as well as repeatedly committing theft, was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 12th, the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Judge Kim Eunyeop) announced that A (54), a scrap collection worker, who was indicted on charges of attempted luring of minors, threats, theft, trespassing, and obstruction of official duties, was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year suspension.
On March 16 at 12:19 PM, A approached B (9) and C (9), who were waiting to cross the crosswalk in front of a mart in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon. He attempted to lure them by saying, "I'll buy you pizza, come with me, do you want to come to my house?" but B and the others refused, so the attempt failed.
Earlier, on December 29 of last year, A had also knocked hard on a neighbor's front door without any reason and threatened, "I will stab you with a weapon, I will set your house on fire."
Furthermore, on March 6 and 8, he broke into a vacant house and stole metal products, and on April 11 and 19 of this year, he was charged with obstruction of official duties after verbally abusing and assaulting police officers who responded to reports of his repeated disturbances.
The court stated, "Considering the nature of the crimes and the surrounding circumstances, the criminal behavior is serious. However, since there is no criminal record exceeding a fine within the last 10 years and the theft damage is relatively minor, the sentence was determined accordingly."
