Conditions for Parking Lot Installation Near Ahyeon Market to Become Stricter


[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] On the 8th, Seoul held the Urban and Architectural Joint Committee and approved the original plan for the district unit plan amendment for Ahyeon 1 District and Ahyeon 2 District, the city announced on the 9th.


The target area is around 327-19 Ahyeon-dong, Mapo-gu, where Ahyeon Market is located. It is a region where public pedestrian pathways are designated within the district unit zone, making vehicle access impossible, and a plan to relax parking lot installation has been established and operated for such lots.


However, excessive cases of parking lot relaxation occurred as uses that induced parking demand, which did not align with the original market revitalization purpose, were introduced.


Accordingly, with this decision, conditional relaxation of parking lot installation will be allowed only for building plans that include more than 30% non-residential use.


A Seoul city official stated, “We expect this amendment to the district unit plan for Ahyeon 1 District and Ahyeon 2 District to greatly contribute to the revitalization of Ahyeon Market.”
