[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil chili peppers are gaining popularity for their unique taste and safety.
Imsil Chili & Agricultural Products Processing and Sales Co., Ltd. announced on the 8th that it achieved sales of over 2 billion KRW within three days of starting sales of the 2021 new chili powder on the 17th of last month, including pre-order volumes.
Imsil Chili & Agricultural Products Processing and Sales Co., Ltd. is an investment institution of Imsil County that purchases red chili peppers directly produced by Imsil farmers, processes, and sells them.
This year, they are purchasing from 832 local farms from July 30 until the 30th of this month, with a planned volume of 1,450 tons.
The purchase target is red chili peppers produced by farms within Imsil, carefully selected as the highest-grade variety through spiciness analysis, and pilot fields are operated to manage taste and quality.
Last year, they also obtained GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification for all shipping farms, further enhancing safety.
Imsil is a mid-mountain area at an altitude of 250-300 meters, with a large temperature difference between day and night and 188 hours of sunlight. Chili peppers produced in Imsil are rich in nutrients, have high sugar content, and thick skins, resulting in high-quality chili powder.
The high fructose content in the chili peppers gives kimchi a bright red, appetizing color, and the moderate capsaicin content provides a spicy flavor that anyone can enjoy.
The highest quality Imsil chili peppers produced in this way are reborn as premium chili powder by Imsil Chili & Agricultural Products Processing and Sales Co., Ltd.
After strict inspection, the highest quality red chili peppers are washed three times, cut vertically, and dried briefly to preserve the nutrients, taste, and color of the peppers. In HACCP-certified facilities, ultraviolet sterilization, metal powder removal, and X-ray processes are applied to produce and sell safe and hygienic chili powder.
The popularity of Imsil chili powder appears to be due to word of mouth, with loyal customers increasing day by day.
Although currently suspended due to COVID-19, until 2019, about 60,000 people in the province visited the chili processing factory through a tour program. Consumers who saw the safe processing firsthand purchased the chili powder and, satisfied with its taste and quality, became loyal customers who continue to seek Imsil chili powder every year.
Shim Min, the county governor, said, “After strenuous efforts to brand Imsil chili peppers as a premium product, they are gaining great popularity among consumers. We will continue to do our best to ensure that from cultivation to processing, all processes meet safe food production standards so that consumers can trust and enjoy Imsil chili peppers.”
Meanwhile, the 2021 new chili powder from Imsil Chili & Agricultural Products Processing and Sales Co., Ltd. is sold at 100,000 KRW for 3 kg and 35,000 KRW for 1 kg.
