[On-site Video] "Apologies to the Victim" Kang Yoon-sung Transferred to Prosecution... Angry Citizens Rush In

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon, PD Yoon Jin-geun] "I sincerely apologize to the victims, their neighbors, and families."

Kang Yoon-seong (56), who was arrested on charges of damaging an electronic tracking device (electronic anklet) and murdering two women, was handed over to the prosecution on the 7th. During the process, an unidentified man, enraged, rushed at Kang, causing the police to physically intervene to stop him.

Seoul Songpa Police Station transferred Kang to the prosecution on the morning of the same day on charges including robbery-murder, murder, attempted murder, fraud, violation of the Specialized Credit Finance Business Act, and violation of the Act on the Attachment of Electronic Devices.

Wearing a mask and bowing his head at the photo line, Kang Yoon-seong responded to reporters' questions by saying, "I was wrong," and claimed, "The reports that I strangled to death because the sexual relationship was refused are incorrect." When asked if he committed the crime because of money, he answered, "Yes." He particularly insisted again that "the reports that I strangled to death because the sexual relationship was refused are incorrect."

Afterward, as Kang was about to board the transport vehicle, a man wearing a hat approached behind the detectives surrounding Kang and shouted, "Hey, you XX!" and rushed at Kang.

In response to the sudden incident, the police immediately subdued the man, but he resisted the detectives and continued to approach Kang, expressing his anger by shouting insults. The man then collapsed near the police station and sobbed uncontrollably, unable to hide his anger.

Kang is accused of killing a woman in her 40s, Ms. A, on the 26th of last month, then cutting off his electronic anklet and fleeing the next afternoon. He was arrested on the 29th morning on charges of murdering a woman in her 50s, Ms. B, in a vehicle (murder and violation of the Act on the Attachment of Electronic Devices).

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Kang showed violent behavior by kicking a broadcast microphone while attending a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) in court when reporters asked about his motive, saying, "Report properly." After the hearing, he said, "I regret not killing more," and "I did it because society is messed up."
