World-Class Taste 'Yeongju Apple Arisu' Targets Overseas Markets... Domestic Exporters Invited to Tasting Event

The Yeongju Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeongbuk will hold an Arisu apple tasting event at 2 p.m. on the 7th at the Seongwajang of Malgeun Agricultural Cooperative in Yujeon-ri, Bonghyeon-myeon.

This meeting was organized by the Rural Development Administration, inviting four domestic export companies to evaluate the quality and taste of the Arisu variety and discuss ways to expand exports.

The export companies evaluated that the Arisu variety can be exported from early September and is a promising export item due to its high sugar content and firmness.

Lee Jeong-jun, team leader of Gyeonggi Export, a domestic export company, said, "Arisu is a variety with sufficient competitiveness overseas, and we are currently negotiating exports with local buyers in three countries: Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam."

Park Ho-gyu, CEO of Malgeun Agricultural Cooperative, said, "The total production of Arisu in the orchard this year is about 30 tons, and we aim to export 10 tons," adding, "We ask related organizations to maintain continuous interest so that high-quality Arisu can be exported."

Jang Seong-wook, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "I am pleased to hold a tasting event due to the interest in Yeongju apples," and added, "We will explore various ways to pioneer export channels and take the lead in globalizing the highest quality Yeongju apples."

Malgeun Agricultural Cooperative was designated this year by the Rural Development Administration's Export Agriculture Support Division as a promising local export complex for export expansion, and is focusing on producing high-quality export agricultural products by conducting three training sessions and consultations on tree vigor management and summer pest control.
