Kakao Pay: "Send Your Chuseok Greetings with a 'Remittance Envelope'"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kakao Pay announced on the 6th that it has added new ‘remittance envelopes’ for Chuseok and is holding an event for users until the 22nd.

To celebrate the Chuseok season, Kakao Pay added two types of remittance envelopes, ‘Happy Chuseok’ and ‘Chuseok Allowance,’ on the 2nd. Each envelope features Kakao Friends characters Ryan and Chunsik, and when receiving the envelope, an effect of pouring songpyeon (rice cakes) and persimmons is added to enhance the festive atmosphere.

Along with this, during the new envelope provision period, a ‘Chuseok Support Fund’ event is being held to support allowances and gathering expenses. First, when sending 100,000 won or more using the remittance envelope, a ‘allowance support fund’ is given on a first-come, first-served basis. For the first 2 million transactions, Kakao Pay Points ranging randomly from 50 points up to 2 million points will be provided, and the event will automatically end once all points are distributed.

To participate in the event, users must press the ‘Apply’ button on the ‘Chuseok Support Fund’ event page and send 100,000 won or more via ‘KakaoTalk Friend Remittance’ using the remittance envelope. After sending, if the recipient presses ‘Receive Complete,’ the sender gains an entry chance. Using the entry chance, pressing the ‘Receive Allowance Support Fund’ button will immediately grant Kakao Pay Points randomly. Users can earn and use up to 7 entry chances per day, and the given entry chances are valid only on the day they are granted.

Sharing the event page link with friends grants additional entry chances. If a friend clicks the shared link, up to 4 more entry chances can be earned during the event period.

An event awarding hotel accommodation vouchers through a draw is also being held. Kakao Pay will select three users who sent money using the remittance envelopes by the 22nd and award them accommodation vouchers for the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Users can apply by pressing ‘Apply’ on the event page, and the more they send using the remittance envelopes, the higher their chances of winning. Users who participated in ‘Receive Allowance Support Fund’ are automatically entered into the draw. Winners of the accommodation vouchers will be individually notified on October 5th after the event ends.
