Some Rooms, Walking Trails, Rooftop Garden, Sculpture Park, and Other Facilities Open to Residents... Baeguncheon Pedestrian Bridge, Uidong Mountain Culture Hub (H·U·B) Including Mountain Exhibition Experience Center Established
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Kyum-soo) processed the new registration of a tourism lodging business, the Ui-dong Resort Condominium, on the 26th of last month.
The newly registered condominium spans from three basement floors to seven above-ground floors, covering a site area of 81,464.0㎡. It consists of a total of 15 buildings, including 14 lodging facility buildings and one cultural and assembly facility building. With 334 rooms, it is equipped with various amenities such as a sauna, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a rooftop garden, and a restaurant.
This building is a place where one can fully enjoy the view of Bukhansan Mountain within the city. The three peaks of Bukhansan?Insubong, Baegunbong, and Mankyungdae?are visible at a glance. Across from it lies the Ui-dong Forest Culture Village, where traditional local food can be tasted, and the Ui-dong Family Camping Site, which opened in March. It is also close to the Ui-ryeong Trail, section 12 of the Bukhansan Dulle-gil, and the terminus station of the Ui-Sinseol Urban Railway.
Earlier in 2019, the district signed a business agreement with the project operator, Jeongsang Bukhansan Resort Co., Ltd., to secure the public nature of the resort condominium development project. On the 27th of last month, both parties signed an operational agreement for the resort condominium based on the public commitments made so far. First, 110 rooms out of the total are open to the general public. The rooftop garden, sculpture park, and walking trails are also accessible to everyone. Local residents receive partial discounts on room and facility usage fees. Additionally, to provide exhibition space for local artists, the district can use at least one-third of the exhibition hall’s available days.
A Baeguncheon pedestrian walkway connecting the low-rise residential area and the condominium, as well as a mountain exhibition experience center, have also been established. In particular, the district has decorated the interior space of the experience center in various ways and named it the “Ui-dong Mountain Culture Hub.” The hub, located at the front of the condominium, features themed experiential facilities based on “Himalaya,” “Um Hong-gil,” and “Bukhansan.”
After a pilot operation this month, it is scheduled to officially open in early October. The site is equipped with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experience devices, an indoor climbing wall (bouldering wall), and exhibition halls.
Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “The resort condominium will establish itself as a representative tourist attraction and symbolic building of the area alongside the Ui-dong Family Camping Site. Utilizing the nearby Mountain Culture Hub, the soon-to-be-opened international-scale artificial climbing wall, and the Bukhansan Climbing Center, we will rise as a stay-type mountain culture tourism hub.”
