[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Daekyo announced on the 3rd that its textbooks submitted for the evaluation of elementary school 3rd and 4th grade math textbooks, which will be applied from 2022, have been finally approved.
The math, social studies, and science textbooks for elementary 3rd and 4th grades applied from March 2022 are based on the 2015 revised curriculum. The Ministry of Education is gradually transitioning from the current state-issued textbook system to a certification system to expand diversity and creativity in education.
The Daekyo textbooks that passed this time include △Math △Math Practice △Teacher’s Guide △Electronic Materials (DVD), with one type for each grade and semester.
Daekyo’s elementary math textbooks are characterized by being organized in an easy-to-understand way considering students’ levels to enable systematic learning and guidance, and by strengthening multimedia and digital learning systems for teachers’ convenience in classes.
The textbooks systematically organize unit introduction, main lesson, and unit conclusion, and include various problems step-by-step to help improve students’ self-directed learning ability. In addition, Daekyo explained that they visualized conceptual principles and presented various activities incorporating familiar real-life materials to help students learn math easily and enjoyably, thereby stimulating students’ interest and developing mathematical competencies.
To facilitate smooth class guidance for teachers, Daekyo’s elementary math textbooks provide not only electronic materials (teacher’s DVD) but also various digital learning resources related to the textbooks for free on the teaching and learning support site ‘Teaching Lab,’ enhancing class convenience.
A Daekyo official said, “Daekyo’s elementary math textbooks received high evaluations as textbooks that well reflect the classroom environment by conducting dozens of meetings with field teachers to write excellent quality textbooks for both students and teachers,” and added, “We plan to support high-quality educational content on the Teaching Lab site for smart classes and student-participation classes.”
Daekyo is holding an event to celebrate the approval of the elementary certification textbooks on the Teaching Lab homepage until the 17th. Detailed information and usage methods can be found on the Teaching Lab homepage.
