On the morning of the 2nd, the men's table tennis team consisting of Kim Younggeon (37), Kim Jeonggil (35, both from Gwangju City Hall), and Baek Youngbok (44, Jangsu-gun Disabled Sports Association) won silver medals after losing 0-2 to the Chinese team in the final of the men's table tennis team event (sports classification TT4-5) held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
In the women's table tennis team event (TT1-3), South Korea also secured a silver medal after losing 0-2 to China. The women's team, composed of Seo Suyeon (35, Gwangju City Hall), Lee Migyu (33, Ulsan Disabled Sports Association), and Yoon Jiyu (21, Seongnam City Hall), was defeated 0-2 by China's Li Chen, Liu Jing, and Xue Juan.
The current medal tally for the South Korean delegation stands at 1 gold, 6 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, South Korea's wheelchair basketball team, which advanced to the Paralympic finals for the first time in 21 years since the 2000 Sydney Games, finished the tournament in 10th place overall. Led by coach Ko Gwangyeop, the team lost 54-64 to Iran in the 9th-10th place classification match held on the 2nd at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. This is the highest ranking ever achieved by South Korean wheelchair basketball.
South Korean athletes, who participated in this tournament with the determination to dedicate their medals to the late former coach Han Sahyeon, who passed away last year after battling illness, showed fighting spirit in every match despite failing to advance to the quarterfinals.
The shooting team completed the preliminaries in the P3 Mixed 25m Pistol event. In the preliminaries, Moon Aekyung (52, Gyeongnam Disabled Sports Association) ranked 13th, Kim Yeonmi (42, Cheongju City Hall) 16th, and Seo Younggyun (50, Gyeongnam Disabled Sports Association) 18th, failing to advance to the finals, which were limited to the top 8 out of 30 competitors.
