[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Regarding reports that the prosecution commissioned the opposition party to file complaints against ruling party politicians during former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's tenure, Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo has ordered the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Inspection Department to conduct a fact-finding investigation.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced this to reporters on the afternoon of the 2nd.
On the same day, the online media Newsbus reported that ahead of last April's general election, the prosecution had commissioned the main opposition party, then the United Future Party (predecessor of the People Power Party), including lawmaker Kim Woong, to file criminal complaints against ruling party politicians such as Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, and Choi Kang-wook and Hwang Hee-seok, then candidates for proportional representation from the Open Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, the former Prosecutor General Yoon's presidential campaign team denied the allegations, stating, "This is clearly false reporting and fabrication," and added, "It is a conspiracy and political maneuver aimed at tarnishing Yoon Seok-yeol, a preliminary candidate for the People Power Party's presidential primary."
