[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 2nd that it will promote a collaborative campaign to spread a gender-equal organizational culture in celebration of Gender Equality Week, in partnership with the With You Seoul Workplace Sexual Harassment and Violence Prevention Center and affiliated companies.
The Seoul With You Center is conducting the "Leaders' Promise to Create Gender-Equal Workplaces" campaign with companies. This campaign involves company representatives pledging to establish systems for preventing and responding to sexual harassment within their organizations and to practice creating a gender-equal organizational culture. This is the first time domestic companies have jointly declared a commitment to creating "gender-equal workplaces."
The With You Center is also running the "Creating Safe Workplaces in Our Stores" campaign targeting the food service industry in collaboration with Baedal Minjok. This campaign aims to spread a culture of mutual respect among food service business owners, workers, and customers to prevent sexual harassment, verbal abuse, and assault within stores, and to provide business owners with expert information to appropriately address sexual harassment issues in their establishments.
The With You Center plans to continue promoting a campaign to protect customer service workers through its own initiatives. This year, the campaign can be requested alongside the "On-site Workplace Sexual Harassment Prevention Education" offered by the With You Center, and participants will receive the "Safe Workplace Guide" and the "Sexual Harassment Prevention and Response Manual" booklets.
Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Women and Family Policy Office, stated, "This campaign conducted in celebration of Gender Equality Week not only highlights the importance of corporate responsibility and roles but also aims to create an advanced organizational culture based on gender equality and to spread social consensus." She added, "We hope many business owners will participate in preventing workplace sexual harassment and fostering a gender-equal organizational culture."
