Approval for Establishment of Drone Training Center... Free Education for Current Students
Operating Drone Certification and Drone Assembly & Maintenance Classes from October
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University has entered the field of drone education, including obtaining national drone certifications.
Drones are one of the core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution era.
The Dongmyung University Drone Education Research Center received approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on August 31 to establish a 'Drone Education Center.' The center will open to provide drone education, a 4th Industrial Revolution technology, to military science students.
It plans to select outstanding students nationwide from military science departments and enable them to obtain national drone certifications free of charge for the first time.
Most universities related to drones currently use external drone education centers, requiring students to pay high tuition fees.
Since Dongmyung University’s Drone Education Research Center can provide education internally, students can obtain certifications free of charge.
Professor Na Seung-hak of the Department of Military Science holds a qualification as an unmanned multicopter instructor and is a former military helicopter instructor pilot. An aviation expert will directly provide drone education to students.
The official name of the drone qualification is ‘Ultralight Flying Device Unmanned Multicopter.’ The certification levels are divided into six stages: Pilot classes 4 to 1, Instructor Pilot, and Practical Evaluation Pilot.
The Dongmyung University Drone Education Research Center has incorporated drone education practice, simulation, and aerial photography into its curriculum and has begun full-scale talent development.
Starting in October, Dongmyung University will operate extracurricular programs for students, including a drone certification class and a drone assembly and maintenance class.
The Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University conducts Do-ing practice through a program called “From Halla to Baekdu,” which includes climbing Halla Mountain, Jiri Mountain, Dokdo, and Baekdu Mountain by grade level, as well as practical unit military camp experiences.
