Ministry of Science and ICT Launches 'Using Smartphones Properly' Campaign

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 1st that it will conduct the campaign "Wise Digital Life, Proper Use of Smartphones" in collaboration with the National Information Society Agency (NIA) for two months starting in September.

This campaign, themed "Healthy, Safe, Smart, and Enjoyable Digital," will offer various online events that children and parents can easily participate in together, including presenting guidelines for proper smartphone use, digital coaching education for parents, slogan contests, overdependence diagnosis experiences, and providing content for overdependence prevention.

In particular, the digital coaching education for parents, under the theme "Digital Coaching Parents Should Know: Parents Need to Learn Too?", will invite renowned domestic speakers in the fields of digital child education (parenting), adolescent counseling psychology, and communication with children. It will be held twice a week for a total of eight sessions starting from the 14th, sharing difficulties related to overdependence that parents face in this era and resolving their questions.

Park Yoon-gyu, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We plan to conduct a practice-centered campaign in a way that many citizens can participate so that the entire nation can enjoy a healthy digital life." He added, "We will actively promote overdependence prevention policies, including the development and distribution of customized educational content, participation of schools and public institutions in education, and strengthening special training for administrators."
