[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 1st that Kim Young-san, former Vice Chairman of the Korea Casino Industry Tourism Association, has been appointed as the president of Grand Korea Leisure (GKL). The term is three years, from today until August 31, 2024.
Newly appointed President Kim Young-san was selected as the final candidate at the GKL extraordinary shareholders' meeting on the 20th of last month after deliberation by the Public Institution Management Committee. He assumed office as the new president through procedures including the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism's recommendation and the President's appointment. Based on his extensive public service experience in organizational management and understanding of the casino sector, President Kim is expected to contribute to leading the growth of the tourism industry through GKL.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee said, "Although the situation is difficult due to COVID-19, I hope the new president will prioritize the safety of customers and employees, strengthen the management soundness of the casino business, and strive to fulfill the responsibilities and roles as a public enterprise, including realizing social value."
