[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has published a manual for asbestos dismantling and removal work.
On the 1st, the Gyeonggi Office of Education announced that it produced and distributed the school asbestos dismantling and removal work manual, "Creating Safe Schools from Asbestos," to help those responsible for asbestos dismantling and removal in schools across the province better understand their tasks.
The manual aims to enhance the work capabilities of asbestos removal personnel through procedures and key cases of school asbestos dismantling and removal projects, and to improve project efficiency by guiding the timing and key points at each stage of asbestos dismantling and removal. This is the first edition.
The distribution targets include schools at all levels in the province conducting asbestos dismantling and removal projects, education support offices, and various departments of the provincial education office.
The main contents of the manual include ▲ understanding school asbestos dismantling and removal projects, ▲ procedures for applying for asbestos dismantling and removal projects and forming monitoring teams, ▲ contract cases for asbestos dismantling and removal projects, ▲ procedures for holding asbestos dismantling and removal briefings, ▲ precautions for asbestos dismantling and removal inspections, and ▲ examples of task instructions related to asbestos dismantling and removal.
Kim Yi-du, head of the Facilities Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, said, "Due to frequent legal amendments and changes in parents' awareness, field workers have faced many difficulties in project implementation." He added, "We hope that this newly published manual will support the practical work of those in charge and help promote asbestos dismantling and removal projects tailored to the conditions and characteristics of each school."
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Office of Education has supported budgets for asbestos dismantling and removal projects in 516 schools in 2016, 276 schools in 2017, 252 schools in 2018, 228 schools in 2019, 220 schools in 2020, and 119 schools in 2021.
