[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 31st that as of the end of July, the number of unsold houses nationwide stood at 15,198 units, down 6.7% from 16,289 units in the previous month.

The number of unsold houses, which had dropped to 15,270 units in March this year and fluctuated since then, sharply decreased again last month. This is interpreted as an increase in demand due to recent housing market instability, leading more people to purchase even unsold homes.

By region, unsold houses in the Seoul metropolitan area were 1,381 units, down 17.1% from the previous month, while those in other regions were 13,817 units, a 5.5% decrease. Among the metropolitan areas, unsold houses in Gyeonggi-do were 981 units, down 22.6% from 1,267 units in the previous month.

The number of "post-completion unsold houses," which remain unoccupied even after the building is completed, was 8,558 units, down 5.0% from 9,008 units in the previous month.

By size, among the total unsold houses, those larger than 85㎡ numbered 471 units, a 9.9% decrease from the previous month, while those 85㎡ or smaller were 14,727 units, down 6.6%.
