[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kakao Pay announced on the 30th that it will operate the 'Kakao Pay Developer Center' to foster an open application programming interface (API) ecosystem.
The Developer Center serves as the official channel for Kakao Pay's open API, providing app registration and management necessary for using the open API, API implementation guides, and forum functions for exchanging opinions and handling inquiries among users. Users can utilize Kakao Pay's technology and features in their own services through the open APIs provided by Kakao Pay.
The currently offered functions are mainly three: ▲Send Money ▲Settle Accounts ▲Face Recognition API.
Users can use the Send Money function to issue their personal send money link and receive money from others via KakaoTalk, and apply the Settle Accounts link to their service to settle accounts 1/N through KakaoTalk.
Through the Developer Center, users can also utilize the Face Detection API, which detects faces in images and estimates the location and feature points of the face, and the Face Comparison API, which compares faces in two images and provides a similarity score indicating the likelihood that the two faces belong to the same person.
Kakao Pay plans to share a wider variety of APIs in the future. Kakao Pay stated, "We planned this Developer Center to establish a collaboration and win-win model by providing various open APIs such as payment APIs," and added, "We will continuously provide and improve development convenience so that open APIs like development libraries and software development kits can be applied and utilized quickly and easily."
