[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] There are speculations that the capacity lineup of Apple's 'iPhone 13' series, scheduled to be unveiled in September, may undergo some modifications.
On the 28th (local time), Chinese IT media GizChina reported that Apple will exclude the 256GB model from the 'iPhone 13 Pro' lineup and lower the price of the 512GB model to fill the gap.
According to the report cited by the media, the iPhone 13 Pro will add a 1TB capacity model priced at 13,299 yuan (approximately 2,052 dollars), and the price of the 512GB model is expected to be lowered to 10,499 yuan (approximately 1,620 dollars), down from 11,099 yuan for the previous model.
The iPhone 13 series is expected to be released in four models, the same as its predecessor: ▲iPhone 13 ▲iPhone 13 Mini ▲iPhone 13 Pro ▲iPhone 13 Pro Max, with specific expected prices also revealed. The iPhone 13 Mini will be priced at 5,499 yuan (approximately 849 dollars) for 64GB, 5,999 yuan (approximately 926 dollars) for 128GB, and 6,799 yuan (approximately 1,049 dollars) for 256GB. The base iPhone 13 is expected to be priced at 6,299 yuan (approximately 972 dollars), 6,799 yuan (approximately 1,049 dollars), and 7,599 yuan (approximately 1,173 dollars) for the same capacities respectively.
The base iPhone 13 Pro, based on 6GB of memory, will come in 128GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations. Prices are set at 8,499 yuan (approximately 1,312 dollars), 10,499 yuan (approximately 1,620 dollars), and 13,299 yuan (approximately 2,052 dollars) respectively. The top-tier iPhone 13 Pro Max will be priced at 9,299 yuan (approximately 1,435 dollars), 11,299 yuan (approximately 1,744 dollars), and 14,099 yuan (approximately 2,176 dollars) respectively.
In particular, the Pro Max 1TB model is expected to be the most expensive iPhone ever, priced at 14,099 yuan (approximately 2,176 dollars). However, IT media PhoneArena explained that considering that iPhone prices in China are generally higher than in the U.S., the actual 1TB Pro Max model may be cheaper than this.
The iPhone 13 series is expected to be unveiled at an event on the 14th of next month, with pre-orders starting on the 17th and the official release date on the 24th. It is anticipated to be equipped with Apple's self-designed A15 Bionic application processor (AP). The A15 chip applies an improved 5-nanometer process compared to its predecessor, enhancing graphics performance while improving power efficiency by 15-20%.
Battery capacity is also expected to increase. According to previously released information, the iPhone 13 Mini will have a 2,406 milliampere-hour (mAh) battery, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will have 3,095mAh, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will have 4,325mAh, representing an increase of 180 to 665mAh compared to the previous models depending on the model.
