Shinsegae Department Store Expands Supply of Hanwoo Gift Sets Collaborating with Famous Restaurants by Threefold

200 Sets of Seasonal Foods Including Jeonbokjang and Tteokgalbi Created by Shinsegae Korean Food Research Institute for Sale

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 30th that it has prepared a total of 380,000 sets of Chuseok gift sets, about 10% more than last year's Chuseok, ahead of the main sale from October 3 to 20.

This Chuseok, considering the demand to replace sincerity with high-end gifts due to social distancing measures, the premium product lineup has been expanded by 15% compared to the previous year. In addition, the quantity of online-exclusive gift sets, mainly fresh food, has been increased by more than 20% and will also be sold on SSG.com.

For the popular holiday item Hanwoo beef, the quantity of gift sets collaborated with famous restaurants has been increased more than threefold. Especially, these days when dining out with family is difficult, products that allow customers to experience the taste of restaurants at home are popular.

As a representative example, a new gift set from 'R Gogi,' a premium Hanwoo beef restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, is being launched. The 'R Gogi Rainy Special,' consisting of grilling sirloin, tenderloin, and strip steak, is offered at 560,000 KRW, and the 'R Gogi Rainy Collection,' composed of practical cuts such as grilling sirloin, soup cuts, and bulgogi, is offered at 360,000 KRW.

The omakase set from 'Motungiwoo,' a Hanwoo omakase specialty restaurant located in Samseong-dong, includes sirloin steak, skirt meat, chuck flap tail, and chuck tender, and is sold for 570,000 KRW.

Shinsegae's livestock buyer directly participates in auctions at Eumseong Livestock Auction Market, the largest Hanwoo auction market in Korea, to introduce high-quality Hanwoo at reasonable prices. Representative products include 'Direct Auction Hanwoo Steak (500,000 KRW),' 'Direct Auction Hanwoo Manbok (360,000 KRW),' and 'Direct Auction Hanwoo Dabok (190,000 KRW)'.

Shinsegae Department Store's Korean Food Research Institute has also prepared a limited 200 sets of healthy side dishes. Representative items include the 'Korean Food Research Institute Abalone Jang Set (350,000 KRW),' which is cooked at low temperature with seasonal vegetables and seafood broth to enhance umami, and the 'Korean Food Research Institute Tteokgalbi Set (150,000 KRW),' which contains carefully minced Hanwoo short rib and strip loin tteokgalbi with fragrant seasonal greens.
