Recruiting 30 Companies to Participate in Social Venture Market Expansion Program 'In the ESG Era, Social Ventures Approach Multiple Values' Until September 3...Major Promotion of Social Venture Products Through 'Social Venture Online Live Commerce' and 'Seoul Forest Social Venture Pop-up Store'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) is recruiting 30 companies to participate in the program "In the ESG Era, Social Ventures Approach Multiple Values" aimed at helping social venture companies develop sales channels until September 3.
This program, designed to revitalize social ventures that realize social value through innovative business models, was established to actively support sales channels through the "Social Venture Online Live Commerce" and the "Seoul Forest Social Venture Pop-up Store."
Support will be provided for the entire process related to sales, including recruiting show hosts, writing scenarios, equipment for filming and broadcasting, so that products can be sold on "Naver Shopping Live," an online distribution channel that allows real-time interactive communication. Additionally, an offline pop-up store, a space for sales, service experience, and exhibitions within Seoul Forest Understand Avenue, will be operated to extensively promote products.
Since 2017, the district has created a venue for meetings and coexistence through public-private cooperation among social ventures, intermediary support organizations, and public institutions via the annual "Seoul Forest Social Venture Expo."
According to a district official, the expo sales support program, which contributes to expanding the business areas and raising the awareness of not only well-known social venture companies but also those with high growth potential, will provide an opportunity for consumers to experience the social value pursued by social ventures and ESG (Environment, Social, Governance), which is recently emphasized as a core strategy and indicator highlighting corporate social responsibility.
In 2017, the district established the nation's first "Ordinance on the Promotion and Ecosystem Support of Social Ventures," providing a basis for nurturing and supporting them. By organizing a dedicated department and systematically implementing various support policies, the number of social economy organizations, including social venture companies, has significantly increased to about 430, forming the largest "Seongsu Social Venture Valley" in Korea and achieving continuous growth.
Social venture companies nationwide wishing to participate can check the recruitment announcement on the official Seongdong-gu website and apply via email (address: rlawldms3333@sd.go.kr) by September 3.
The products and services of companies selected through document screening for the "Social Venture Online Live Commerce" and "Seoul Forest Social Venture Pop-up Store" will be introduced at the 5th Seoul Forest Social Venture Expo to be held in October.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "Due to the contraction of consumer sentiment caused by the resurgence of COVID-19, active promotion and support for expanding sales channels for social venture companies are necessary," adding, "I hope this program will be an opportunity to promote social venture products, share the social values pursued by social ventures, and spread good consumption."
