[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) has actively taken steps to help small business owners and self-employed individuals strengthen their SNS capabilities for revenue generation.

The district is recruiting 60 businesses to participate in the 'Capacity Building Project' until September 23.

The 'Capacity Building Project' is a program designed for local small business owners and self-employed individuals that teaches them how to directly promote their products on SNS using digital devices. It also includes practical content such as product proposals and bookkeeping to strengthen business capabilities through networking.

To improve the promotional and digital office skills of businesses vulnerable to digital device and computer usage, a dedicated support team visits businesses directly to provide one-on-one customized training.

Before recruiting participating businesses, the district formed a support team of 30 professional instructors, including youth, this month and created an education manual. Over 24 sessions, training on SNS promotional marketing and administrative tasks such as Excel and PowerPoint necessary for office management was conducted, completing preparations to strengthen small business owners' capabilities.

As this project was established to help small business owners overcome difficulties caused by the government's strengthened social distancing measures due to the spread of COVID-19, it will actively operate to provide opportunities not only for SNS promotion and information utilization education but also for individual coaching and feedback, thereby enhancing product competitiveness and contributing to increased sales.

In the first half of this year, online (Naver Business) marketing education was conducted four times with great interest and participation from local small business owners. This 'Capacity Building Project' will be promoted in cooperation with the Seongdong-gu Small Business Association to help small business owners adapt proactively to changing consumer structures by shifting their mindset and strengthening their capabilities.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “As the COVID-19 situation prolongs and the non-face-to-face market fully opens, online advancement for small business owners is no longer optional but essential. We will actively implement customized education support projects for small business owners so that local neighborhood markets can firmly take root.”
