During the 4th Wave of COVID-19... Gwangju-Jeonnam Consumer Sentiment 'Frozen'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The consumer sentiment index in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region declined due to the impact of the 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.


According to the Bank of Korea Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters on the 24th, the August Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) was 99.6, down 3.2 points from the previous month.


This marks a decline for two consecutive months following the previous month.


A consumer sentiment index above 100 is interpreted as 'optimistic,' while below 100 is considered 'pessimistic.'


Among the detailed items, the Living Conditions Outlook CSI (95) fell by 2 points compared to the previous month, and the Consumption Expenditure Outlook CSI (102) dropped by 4 points.


The Current Economic Conditions CSI (79) and Future Economic Outlook CSI (92) decreased by 7 points and 5 points, respectively.


The Employment Opportunity Outlook CSI (84) fell by 5 points, while the Interest Rate Level Outlook CSI (122) rose by 1 point.


The Current Household Savings CSI (92) increased by 2 points, but the Household Savings Outlook CSI (93) decreased by 1 point.


The Current Household Debt CSI (106) and Household Debt Outlook CSI (102) rose by 5 points and 3 points, respectively.


The Price Level Outlook CSI (139), Housing Price Outlook CSI (128), and Wage Level Outlook CSI (120) remained the same as the previous month.


This survey was conducted from the 12th to the 19th among 600 urban households in Gwangju and Jeonnam, with 542 households responding.
