[Asia Economy] Haenam County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that it has provided an additional 100,000 KRW in national support funds to 6,059 basic livelihood security recipients and legally designated low-income households who are struggling due to COVID-19.

This support fund is provided separately from the 5th disaster relief fund, which supports citizens with a median income of 88% or less, and is a one-time payment aimed at increasing the consumption capacity of low-income groups. It targets approximately 6,059 people, including basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated low-income households, and legally supported single-parent families receiving child-rearing support.

The support fund is 100,000 KRW per person and is provided according to the number of household members for those currently under legal protection such as basic livelihood security recipients. Therefore, it was paid in bulk to the welfare benefit accounts where payments are already being deposited, without any separate application process.

A county official stated, “We hope that the additional national support fund for low-income groups will help stabilize the lives of low-income households who are facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, even if only a little.”
