[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station (Chief Kim Hee-cheol) announced on the 24th that it conducted fire truck passage training and promotional campaigns at traditional markets.

Bukbu Fire Station regularly conducts training to secure fire lanes in traditional markets, which are vulnerable sections of fire truck routes, and to ensure citizens can shop safely.

The training involved five vehicles and about 30 personnel, including civilian ride-alongs with reporters, street campaigns inside the market, a fire truck parade, and promotional announcements.

The main activities included ▲ crackdowns and guidance on illegal parking within 5 meters of fire water facilities ▲ urging drivers to yield and give priority to emergency vehicles ▲ guidance on securing fire lanes in traditional markets ▲ information on replacing fire extinguishers older than 10 years ▲ promotion of residential fire safety equipment installation.

Jo Jong-hoon, Head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, said, “Securing the golden time during fires and other disasters is most important, and fire truck passage is essential.” He added, “When you hear the siren, we ask all citizens to pause briefly to allow fire trucks to pass.”
